Revolution

September 15, 2012

The Middle-East is exploding.  It seems that almost everyday, or every hour, a new uprising is occurring somewhere in an Islamic or Arab country.  While there are differing opinions as to the cause of these political upheavals, they are happening, nonetheless.

Jesus, however, told us that these things would come to pass just before His return.  The Lord states, ”Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away” (Luke 21:8-9).  We see these revolutions taking place everyday on the front pages of our newspapers and as the lead stories on television news programs.

Once again, as Christians, we need not fear.  The Lord will take care of His own.  He will not abandon those who have committed their lives to Him.  We can take heart in knowing that when He comes, everything will be made right.  In the meantime, we trust in Him for our eternal security and for our earthly security also.

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? -Psalm 27:1 … GREAT POST! :)

  2. I agree with your last paragraph entirely. Christians need not be afraid and should not worry. He will see us through every event and circumstance before us. Jesus’ words in Luke 21:8-9, however, were in answer to a question that His disciples asked Him concerning a very specific event that he had just prophesied. That event was, of course, the destruction of the Temple by the Romans in 70 AD; an event that would occur 40 years in their future but now in our distant past.

  4. We need not fear. I totally agree. The true Christians definitely have nothing to fear, for we know not when, but we know in the end we will be with our Savior. In my noon day bible study class we are studying Revelations. These are indeed things to come. We should read again Matthew 24. Be blessed!
